


Networking & Training
The QLD Indigenous Women Rangers Network was formed in 2018 with 34 members. We now have 197 members with 33 Senior Rangers and Coordinators across the state of QLD from the Lake Eyre Basin to the Torres Strait Islands.
My team and I hold the QLD Indigenous Women Ranger Network forums twice a year. The forums provide a space for women rangers to talk, connect and learn new skills. With a strong focus on support, networking, health and wellbeing, community led projects, mentoring and training, the network fosters empowerment and collaboration.
We want to provide more opportunities for the Indigenous Women Rangers for the amazing work that they do on country, as role models and leaders in their field. Over the last five years we have demonstrated that

Increasing a woman’s ability to participate in environmental protection creates a win-win for nature and for community.

Empowering women with technologies redefines what a female ranger can do and amplifies the scale and breadth of a rangers’ impact.

Indigenous women want to be a generation of action and of hope, recognized as strong women on country. They are in the best place to drive change and move us forward creating a positive future, protecting cultural values and looking after our land and sea country in the process.

Mentoring & Leadership
We are now piloting our new QIWRN mentoring and leadership program – the QIWRN Sisterhood – The New Wave of Leaders. This is the first ever women ranger leadership program to be delivered as part of QIWRN. Led by Zeila, the program has been carefully designed by the QIWRN team and James Fa’Aoso who is an expert in developing leaders and emerging leaders for over 16 years. The purpose of this program is to elevate our amazing Indigenous women rangers into positive role model and leadership positions. Over time, the women who graduate from this program will become QIWRN alumni and offered mentorship roles for women in our networks.​​​​​
